Rare Large Vintage Chinese Dice

Vintage Chinese Large Wood Dice. Made of a dark hardwood possibly mahogany with round incised/etched inlaid scenes that look to be made out of bone.

There are 6 different scenes on each sides. There are also Chinese characters on all of the rounded corners.

It measures 5cm on each side and weights 100g. I tried to make some research about the origin of the dice but have not been able to find any information on them. Would really appreciate any help if anyone does know what it was used for.
